Our tax practice covers a broad range of corporate taxation issues as well as the detailed rules that apply to partnerships and S corporations. We are focused on helping you minimize the federal, state, and local taxes associated with individual transactions as well as your ongoing business strategies and operations.
We advise our clients on a broad range of general business and transactional tax matters, including:
- Structuring new businesses
- Buying, selling and reorganizing existing businesses
- Executive compensation and other deferred compensation arrangements
- Tax controversy
Recognizing that taxes impact every aspect of your business, we provide timely tax-planning advice that ensures your decisions take all other aspects of your business into account, including other legal concerns, financing, accounting, cash needs, exit strategies and succession planning.
We also represent clients in disputes with the IRS, as well as in-state and local tax matters, including income, sales and use, and property tax issues.
Liane Heggy leads the firm’s tax practice. She is a tax lawyer by training, and her background includes both business management and major-law firm experience. She frequently serves as outside general counsel, with a focus on tax, to closely-held companies.
