Bio
Liane Heggy leads our tax practice, bringing a special combination of tax expertise and business experience to her work. She assists start-up companies and businesses at all stages of development, advising her clients on a broad range of business, corporate, partnership, and tax matters. She also represents clients in controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and state and local taxing authorities.
Prior to joining the firm in May 2011, Liane practiced at Jacobs Chase, LLC and Davis Graham & Stubbs, LLP in Denver as well as the Washington D.C. offices of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy. She spent several years as the manager of an import-export business located in southern California and Central America before attending law school.
Liane is originally and always an Iowa farm kid, and attended the University of Kansas for three years before following a Marine to the East Coast. She enjoys outdoor activities of all kinds, especially digging in her garden, golf, softball and hiking; and indoors, enjoys baking and watching college hoops.

- Lovell Minnick Partners LLC, a California-based private equity firm, in connection with its firm structure, as well as the acquisition, ongoing investment and disposition of numerous portfolio companies
- Represent management group in connection with formation and initial capital raise of $100 million fund for investment in Asian equities
- Represent private equity fund in connection with structure and funding of investment in India, Russia and Western Europe, working closely with tax and legal advisors in various jurisdictions
- Represent engineering, manufacture and construction firm in disposition of business and assets located in US, Canada, and Australia
- Shareholders in connection with the sale of a $10 million custom specialty battery manufacturer to a private equity concern
- The majority owner on the sale of the master-planned golf course and real estate development in Eagle County, Colorado, together with the subsequent wind-up of 20-plus companies that were part of the ownership structure
- A Denver-based sports surface company in acquiring a competing business in Utah for a combination of cash, short-term and long-term notes and earn-out payments.
- An affiliate of Intrawest Corporation in a $338 million construction financing of the Honua Kai development project in Maui, Hawaii
